MAI has identified the configuration of the face in 2 expressions (Repose and Smiling) in both the frontal and lateral views. If two of the 3-dimensional views (or planar views) of an object are known then the third view can be constructed. That is, when two of the 3 dimensions of an object have been quantified then the third can be calculated and ultimately the entire 3-Dimensional image of the object can be constructed. Since we now know the frontal and lateral views of the repose and smiling expressions, the coronal view can be constructed and with this construction of all three views the complete 3-dimesional face in these expressions can be formed. MAI is currently working to finalize the 3-d image of the archetypal face in both the repose and smiling configurations.
